Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, participated in the virtual meeting held between the Foreign Ministers of the Western Balkans and the supporting countries of the Berlin Process.

In this meeting, where the central topic was youth and civil society, Albania’s commitment to regional cooperation and membership in the European Union was expressed once again.

“It is essential to continue to support initiatives such as RYCO and the Western Balkans Fund for strengthening the youth, civil society and inter-ethnic reconciliation.” – Cakaj emphasized via a Facebook post, regarding the meeting.

Also, the acting Minister Cakaj added that there is a clear need to have a more dynamic approach to the implementation of priorities of the Berlin Process, in terms of market economy, greater interconnection of free movement, services for people and digitalization in general.

“It is clear, as far as Albania is concerned: Regional cooperation is not a substitute, but an essential part of helping and accelerating membership in the European Union,” concluded Cakaj.
