The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, via a Facebook post, praised the speech given by Congressman Engel in his last hearing on the Balkans.

“Congressman Engel expresses very clearly, not only the call for Serbia to agree with the new reality in the Balkans, recognizing the Republic of Kosovo, but also the complete absurdity of obstructing membership in international organizations.” – stressed Cakaj in his post.

Moreover, Cakaj said that while Engel is clear about the importance of bringing to justice anyone who has committed crimes, the acting Minister also emphasizes that Serbia has done almost nothing in punishing war crimes, such as the case of the Bytyqi brothers.

According to Chief Diplomat Cakaj, Congressman Engel has been one of the most valuable voices, the biggest supporters and the most committed persons for the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, for three decades.

“For this, he deserves immense thanks and endless gratitude.” – Cakaj concluded his reaction.
