Today, on December 18, on the International Migration Day and at the same time on the National Day of the Diaspora, an online meeting was held for the presentation of the ambitious platform, “Connect Albania” with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sokol Dedja, Minister of State for Diaspora, Mr. Pandeli Majko, representatives of IOM and other representatives of state institutions.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and exchange ideas on the ongoing cooperation of Albanian institutions with international partners, to find opportunities and implement projects that bring Albanians in the diaspora closer to their home country. The ambitious and very useful project “Connect Albania” serves this purpose and upgrades the role of the diaspora from a “remittance fund” to active contributors to the welfare and economy of the country.

With a strategic vision and self-awareness, this project involves for the first time the diaspora members at high institutional levels, through the measures of the National Diaspora Strategies. Projects like these do not only aim at engaging successful people of diaspora in the economic growth of the home country, but it is also an invitation to return these individuals as dignified contributors to their home country.

The Connect Albania project is a guarantee for the inclusion of talented and successful representatives of the diaspora in financial investments, work culture, management skills gained from their experiences around the world, bringing know-how of practices from other countries as businessmen and entrepreneurs.
