Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj had a phone call with the Minister for International Trade of the United Kingdom, Ranil Jayawardena.

The counterparts discussed the final preparations before the signing of the agreement on Partnership, Trade and Cooperation.

“Despite BREX-it, the United Kingdom continues to be an irreplaceable partner for Albania’s democratic development, an outstanding supporter of the Berlin Process and a partner for co-operation in the Western Balkans, and a supporter of our aspirations for EU membership.”  – said Cakaj via a Facebook post regarding the call.

Further, Cakaj expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom for the continued support for Albania’s multilateral diplomacy, as well as the commitment to expand and deepen the relationship between the two countries at every level.
