Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

10 young diplomats, 8 of whom are women and girls, are part of the Albanian diplomatic system.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, during the ceremony organized on the International Women’s Day, praised the role of women and girls in diplomacy, since 1929, the year when the first law on Foreign Service in Albania was approved.

“Not only are the vast majority of the staff of this Ministry women and girls, but some of our most important missions are led by women: Rome, Athens, Brussels, Washington. Our mission at the United Nations is led by women and it is successfully led too. I am proud that soon when Albania takes its non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, one of the priorities of our missions to the Council will be women, or more precisely the agenda on Women, Peace and Security,” said the chief diplomat in her speech during the ceremony.

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, assured her support for every new diplomat who decides to give his contribution to Albanian diplomacy.

“I want to assure you that you will find in me a very strong and determined supporter of young people, you will find a leader who is ready to create spaces and opportunities for you to show what you know and how well you know to do it. As I believe like any other part of the administration of the institutions of the Albanian state, diplomacy needs new blood, new generations to take the lead by doing better than it is done today and better than it was done yesterday in our diplomatic missions”, she underlined.
