At the initiative of Greece and Romania, Foreign Ministers of the European Union gathered in an informal online meeting to discuss expectations regarding the integration process.

The meeting was confirmed by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Olta Xhaçka and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani.

The Foreign Ministers of the European Union member states unanimously supported the European perspective for the Western Balkans and supported the appeal of Minister Xhaçka for the need of a strategic approach from the European Union for the integration of the Western Balkans, reiterating once again that Albania and Northern Macedonia have a place in the European Union, thanks to the good work done to meet the membership objectives.

The EU Foreign Ministers also said that maximum efforts are being made to resolve the deadlock between Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria, to pave the way for the holding of the First Intergovernmental Conference with Albania and North Macedonia, within the Portuguese presidency.
