Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka spoke today in honor of the 76th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.

Minister Xhaçka valued UN multilateral Engagement, emphasizing that Albania and Western Balkans region are best examples of the value of multilateral cooperation.

According to her, Albania’s mandate in the Security Council is a great achievement that brings many opportunities for our country in the global arena.

“It is certainly a great achievement for Albania, a great achievement that shows the maturity of Albanian diplomacy, recognizing the constructive role of our country in terms of security, stability, and development issues. But above all, it is an opportunity. An opportunity for a small country that usually has a hard time influencing or making its voice heard in the global arena to present to the world some ideas and solutions for the problems that concern us all. Ideas and solutions that come from our experience, such as Women, Peace and Security, Fight against Violent Radicalism, Respect for human rights, where Albania has a lot to say, or even in issues such as climate where we may not have a huge record of achievements. But we are aware of the need to do something, and this is why we have decided to join forces with other countries that share the same concern, to work on these issues during this mandate and to pass this prestigious role to another partner country at the end of our mandate “, said Minister Xhaçka.
