Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, at the traditional end-of-year reception with the Diplomatic Corps, where the Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present, emphasized that 2021 was a very good year for the Albanian diplomacy.

“We are going to the Security Council with an agenda of ambitious priorities that reflect our historical experience, but also the values where we believe and on which we are building modern and European Albania. The good news is that today, Albania’s European path enjoys the unanimous support of the European Union and all member states”, the minister said in her speech.

According to the Albanian chief diplomat, during 2021 Albania had the opportunity to show the world what it represents, whether in terms of values and traditions, or taking responsibilities.

“Today, several thousand Afghan citizens are sheltered in Albania. The way Albanian citizens have welcomed this decision, and the way they have rushed to offer help and support, shows that the protection of Jews during World War II or the Albanians of Kosovo during the genocide of Milosevic’s Serbia, were not historical accidents, but the reality of what this nation represents,” said the minister.
