On October 25, 2022, the strategic partnership dialogue between Albania and the USA will take place in Washington DC, for the first time in an expanded format, with representatives from eight ministries and structures.

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka leads the Albanian delegation, and the Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Karen Donfried leads the American delegation. The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, will join part of the discussions of this Dialogue.

In the composition of the Albanian delegation, for the first time, there are representatives at a high level from the Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Justice, etc. while for the American side from the U.S. Department of State, the Department of Defense, Trade, etc.

Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Gabriel Escobar, Deputy Secretary of Defense, etc, will represent the US Department of State.

The dialogue aims to deepen and expand the strategic partnership between Albania and the USA and strengthen cooperation in areas of geostrategic importance such as security, cyber protection, cooperation within the Security Council, energy, transport, climate change, digital transformation, etc.

During the dialogue, common challenges, between Albania and the USA, in the field of security will be discussed because of the development of international events.

The strategic partnership dialogue comes on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and the USA.
