The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, visited the Turkish embassy in Tirana, where she signed the book of condolences for the tragedy that happened in Türkiye. Xhaçka emphasized that Albania has offered its assistance to Türkiye from the very first moments and will continue to do so in the future.

“The earthquake that struck Albania two years ago is still very recent in our memory, and the assistance provided by the Turkish people and government is something for which we are eternally grateful. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Turkish people and government,” she mentioned.

Thousands of people have lost their lives as a result of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Türkiye a few days ago.

Fortunately, no victims with Albanian citizenship have been reported thus far. The Embassy and Consulate of the Republic of Albania in Türkiye are in continuous contact with the Turkish authorities, while the families have been helped to connect with their relatives in Albania and Türkiye, as well as to facilitate their transportation from the areas affected by the tragedy.

A group of 80 FA personnel, medical professionals, and search and rescue specialists have been working with Turkish authorities on the humanitarian effort for the past three days.
