The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi in the margins of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

Minister Xhaçka thanked Commissioner Varhelyi for the work of the EC team in the screening process with Albania, as she emphasized that our country has made progress with the required reforms.

She stated that Albania’s goal in 2023 is for the Council to approve the review report on the fundamental clusters in the middle of 2023 and the opening of the clusters within the second intergovernmental conference by the end of the year.

According to her, the opening of the fundamental clusters in 2023 would be a powerful support for strengthening the deep and transformative reforms that our country has undertaken to consolidate the rule of law, to fight corruption and organized crime.
