Roland Kristo

Roland Kristo – Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development

Mr. Roland KRISTO was born in Lushnja on April 12, 1964. He is married to Mrs. Renata Martini (KRISTO) and they have two children: Denis and Mattia.

Mr. Kristo completed his higher studies in Biological Sciences at “La Sapienza” University of Rome (Italy) with excellent results (110 e Lode/110). In 1982, he completed the general high school “Qemal Stafa” in Tirana with excellent results.

Mr. Kristo has had a long commitment in the field of Fisheries and Aquaculture covering the duties of the Director of the Durrës Fisheries Research Institute (1997-1999), that of the Director of the Directorate of Fisheries (2001-2012), Head of the Department of of Fisheries and Aquaculture at the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment at the Agricultural University of Tirana (2013-2016). He holds the scientific degree “Doctor of Science” in the field of Agriculture and Environment.

Mr. Kristo has worked as an expert in many national and international projects funded by EC, FAO, GIZ. Mr. Kristo has also contributed to the drafting of the Legislation in force in the field of Fishing and Aquaculture, the development strategies of the sector 2007-2015 and 2016-2021, in the drafting of Fisheries Management and Co-management plans.

Mr. Kristo has a very good command of the Italian language and communicates fluently in English.
