Dhimitër Kote – Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development

Mr. Dhimitër Kote was born in Mursi-Saranda, on October 20, 1956. He is married to Mrs. Eftalia Kote and they have two children, Dhonati and Kostandina.
Mr. Kote completed his higher studies in Agronomy at Kamëz Agricultural University, receiving the title of Senior Agronomist in 1986. He completed the “Bido Sejko” secondary school in Konispol. In 2010 he attended a seminar in the USA “Cooperation and Development in Agriculture” Colorado – Washington.

In the period 1975-1992, Mr. Kote worked as an agronomist in the former Agricultural Company of Vrinna. During the years 1992-1995, he emigrated to Greece, gaining experience in the field of agriculture. Upon his return to Albania in 1995, Mr. Kote decided to focus on planting citrus fruits, where he is co-owner of one of the largest farms
cultivates, produces and exports citrus fruit with European standards. Under his example, Xarra managed to produce up to 15 thousand tons of mandarins per season. Xarra today is one of the most developed and well-organized areas.

Contracts with Poland, the Czech Republic, and Kosovo make Xarra an important factor among Albanian exporters.

Since 2005, Mr. Kote has had a successful collaboration with USAID and is a member of the Board of CAA Lushnja.

In the local elections of October 2000, Mr. Kote was elected Mayor of the Municipality of Xarrë to be reconfirmed three more times in this position. From 2011-2016, he was a member of the National Assembly of the Socialist Party.

Mr. Kote knows the Greek language very well.
