PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

Preschool education in the Republic of Albania is public and private. It consists of nurseries and kindergartens. Kindergartens are institutions subordinate to the local government and include children in the age group (0-3) years old. Kindergartens are institutions subordinate to MAS and include children in the age group (3 – 6) years old. Pre-school education is not compulsory. There are two types of kindergartens, full-day kindergartens and half-day kindergartens. The gardens operate throughout the year.
The educational learning process in preschool education is developed on the basis of educational programs approved by MAS. The mission of the kindergarten is, in cooperation with parents, to realize the education and personality development of children and to prepare them for school. In the kindergartens located in areas inhabited by minorities, the educational and learning process takes place in the mother tongue.
