Ministry of Education and Sports

As part of the integration into the European program Erasmus+, for Education, Training, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education and Sports has received a grant, thus becoming a partner of e-Twinning – the online community of schools across Europe.

eTwinning promotes the cooperation of schools in Europe through the use of Information and Communication Technologies by providing support, tools and services to schools.

The eTwinning portal (www.etwinning.net) represents a unique platform of teacher interaction in stimulating and innovative projects. The portal encourages students, teachers and school leaders to create projects, exchange ideas and spread the best practices among themselves, feeling that they are part of the community with incentives in Europe.

Created in 2005 as the main action of the European Commission’s Electronic Learning Programme, eTwinning counts today across the European continent 269,593 teachers and 128,352 schools developing collaborative projects and sharing ideas.

MASR invites teachers to join the e-Twinning online community and be an active part of this program.

Round Table with School Directors for the promotion of the eTwinning School Label

On April 12 and 13, an event promoting the quality label of schools was organized in Tirana.

Directors of the schools of the Tirana City and Durrës Regional Directorate took part in the event, who first familiarized themselves with the conditions that the schools must fulfill in order to be ready in the process of their application to win the title as an eTwinning school. The fact was demonstrated that at least two teachers of a school must demonstrate their activity on the platform for at least two years and at the same time the policies that the school should follow in terms of the active engagement of teachers in curricular projects and in terms of using the safe internet were presented to the leaders.

The managers became familiar with the eTwinning platform and the involvement of Albanian teachers in this online community. The positive progress of the involvement of Albanian teachers was reiterated in the meeting, which has now reached around 4,000 teachers and 1,200 engaged schools.

The network of ambassadors and coordinators, who play a significant role in promoting this network and supporting teachers in terms of their involvement in national or international partnerships, were presented to the participants. At the same time, in these meetings, it was demonstrated how school leaders could register on this platform and how they could use functionalities to record the involvement of their teachers in this community. The ambassadors present at these meetings enabled their registration on the eTwinning platform.

The principals of the schools passionately discussed the activity of their schools, their involvement in this online community and their active commitment in the future to continue encouraging the involvement of other teachers in this process. They exchanged positive experiences in terms of creating policies at the school level for the professional development of teachers and emphasized the great role that etwinning can play in this direction.

TTI Initiative

The TTI initiative, in the framework of the eTwinning program as part of the Erasmus+ program, aims to involve Higher Education Institutions and teaching students in the largest online community of teachers at the international level, in the eTwinning network.

This cooperation expands the spaces of mutual recognition between our students and those of Higher Education Institutions at the European level.

Exactly within the framework of this initiative, this activity aimed to promote eTwinning as an online community that brings together generations dedicated to the field of education to work together, to share values and experiences, to engage in curricular initiatives and projects.

The focus in this case was teaching students and this coincides best with the initiatives that MASR has undertaken to improve quality in our higher education system. It is not without purpose that this activity included teaching students who are currently attending higher studies at public HEIs in the field of teaching or have just completed them, in various branches and who are doing professional internships at public schools.

The TTI seminar took place on May 23 at the Plaza Hotel in Tirana.

In this activity, the aim was to familiarize them with the eTwinning portal, the commitment towards their registration process, as a new opportunity for them, to get to know and feel closely:

– the positive experiences of the teachers who are currently in the system, – the way they engage their students in curricular projects,

– the use of information technology tools in the field of education, as necessary tools for the development of their competencies in this direction

– the development of appropriate competencies in the field of communication and cooperation

– further development of competencies in terms of providing project-based learning.

  • Mini-fairs: “eTwinning – challenge and opportunity for Digital Citizenship”

As part of the eTwinning program, the National eTwinning Service – Ministry of Education and Sports, will organize in four geographical regions Minifairs with the theme: “eTwinning – challenge and opportunity for Digital Citizenship”. This fair aims to present the current commitments of the teachers included in this program and simultaneously promote the participation of new teachers to be an active part of this program. At the same time, this fair will offer the possibility of online registration of new teachers, previously unfamiliar with the eTwinning platform, as well as their training, simultaneously demonstrating functionalities related to the design and implementation of a project, as well as functionalities with the use of Twinspace as a tool for communication, collaboration and sharing experiences. The coordination of the National Service for the organization of these Minifairs is currently being done through DAR/ZA, which notify and coordinate the schools for participation. The National Service selects from the platform the list of teachers who can demonstrate their activity in the Minipanair. The teachers on this list are teachers who have been active in the eTwinning platform and actually have the opportunity to present their completed projects for the regional competition that will be part of this Minifair. DAR/ZA coordinates the actions with the respective schools of these teachers to create the preparation facilities to appear in this Minifair. The national service at its own expense will guarantee the environment of the fair, the promotion spaces within this environment (tables), and some presentation tools such as leaflets, pens, rollups, posters and calendars. The schools of these teachers, depending on the projects they want to present, enable a dignified presentation at this fair. Each of these teachers will have their own space and can take a partner in the project and at least 2 students. Teachers must present their projects in the form of Power Point presentations on a tablet or laptop as well as with photos, posters, leaflets, or other objects. The fair is visited by teachers and other students who will have the opportunity to vote for the three best projects at the regional level.
